ABOUT

I have enjoyed the process of understanding the Geotechnical procedures and also gaining the knowledge to classifying  soils by performing a wide variety of experiments, all leading to a good understanding soil mechanics. By creating the portfolio with 5+ labs, I was able to have a good understanding of the impacts different soils have, especially the importance of selecting a subsurface soil(s) for the uses as a foundation and how important it is as a building material.  By furthering my understanding in the ability to use techniques and skill and the use of modern engineering tools practice in soil mechanics.  I was able to develop a laboratory field curve for settlement parameters in soil.

I was able to learn how to conduct labs test in soil mechanics and interpret the results like the example which happen; From the atterberg limit lab helped me advance my understanding, in classifying the soil in the grains size distribution lab. The compaction lab then confirmed my grains size distribution classification. These results were very exciting, being able to produce similar results on two different experiments performed at different times was very gratifying. The combination of experiments and making the portfolio has helped in my overall knowledge and understanding of Geotechnical methods and the occupation desired outcome and knowledge of interpreting soil plots, figures and data .
